We've Adopted!

A pumpkin family that is! Cory and I ventured out to Tuttle's Orchard this weekend, a place that has significant meaning to us because it was where we had our second date (three years ago) AND because the orchard supplied us with caramel apples for our wedding last year. It was a nice day to be outside and as you can see (by the pictures below), the place was packed! Mostly with families and young children...which makes Cory and I even more excited to be able to have our own children, so we can share special moments like this.

We headed all the way to the back of the pumpkin patch, hoping to find the yet undiscovered site of our *perfect* pumpkins! Along the way we passed many tempting choices...tall, stout, pale orange, dark orange, deep ridges, wart covered, smooth sides, speckles of green and so on. I took some pictures as we passed by.

Then, one by one, we found our pumpkin family! Each were found in a different row and even though we had hiked our way to one of the furthest areas of the patch (without a wagon mind you) my husband was still just as patient with me :) We stopped to get a quick picture of each of us...because there was no one around us who could take a picture of us together!

We decided not to carve them this year, but just to enjoy their natural beauty. After bringing them home & giving them a quick bath in the kitchen sink, we found a little nook for them to rest in, right next to our mums on the front porch. It was a fun day. Oh, I should also add that we were just as excited about picking up a gallon of Tuttle's apple cider, homemade apple cinnamon bread and some caramel corn in their store...we have plenty of fall treats now!

The top corner picture of the veiny looking green pumpkin looks kinda like the plant from Little Shop of Horrors. Did you bring this one home with you???? If so, tell me if it forms a mouth and starts asking you to feed it, you totally have to call me!!!! :)

How neat sis! I love the different color pumpkins. There are no pumpkin patches around here b/c they don't grow well in the area. Found that out myself! haha The pictures are really great and I'm glad you both had a good time finding your little family!
