Mr. Albert has always had a rule about NOT decorating for Christmas until after Thanksgiving day. I've never had such a rule and could care less about the turkey! After talking to my dear Cory Louis, explaining how wonderful it would be to come home to an ALREADY decorated home from spending Thanksgiving week in New York with his family...he agreed! So, last weekend we went through the 4 bins of Christmas decorations that we had and began decorating for our first Christmas in the new house! We ran into a few snags - finding some pieces that had broken despite our careful packaging, holiday table clothes that were too small for our new dining room table, lights that didn't work anymore....but overall, everything came out great! Of course we don't have our tree or outdoor lights up yet, we'll do those upon returning home from New York.
Here's Cory amongst the mess of sorting:
Our stockings & fireplace mantle:
We found these signs on our trip to South Haven, MI for our 1st wedding anniversary:
This is the first nativity scene that I had after graduation from Purdue - I couldn't stand to get rid of it, so we gave it a home on the fireplace mantle :)
We listened to Christmas music the whole time and it even snowed a little bit that day! As we were going through things, Cory had a decor request that we put up candles in each window of the house that faces outward - so, we went to Lowes and found some that had a flickering light. We miscalculated the number of outward facing windows in the house, so we still need to get a few more, but when it's dark they look great!
