Owen's 1st Pediatrician Appointment

Today was Owen Christopher's 1st Pediatrician appointment with Dr. Riddell. Cory and I were so excited to see how much Owen had grown & overall, how he was doing. So, last night, Momma packed up the diaper bag for the first time and it was a good thing because we ended up needing a few things at his appointment!

Dr. Riddell's office staff was so nice! They were right on time with our appointment and talked Cory and I through how everything would go. Owen's weight today (1 week after delivery) was 6lbs 3.5 oz, so he gained 1.5oz since we were discharged from the hospital on Sunday. Dr. Riddell had hoped that Owen would have gained a bit more weight, so we're going back on Monday next week to check his weight one more time, however, Dr. Riddell told us not to worry, just keep feeding him well. His length was 20 inches, so Owen has grown a whole inch since he's been home! We were told that Owen can begin taking more formula at each feeding and that it's okay if Owen wants to feed a little more frequently than every 3hrs. Physically, Owen looked perfect, his circ site is healing very well and he tolerated the exam pretty well.

Owen had a wet diaper by the end of the exam and started rooting around a lot before we left, so Cory and I just cozied up in the waiting room and gave Owen a bottle...sure enough, he drank almost 30cc, and he had just fed about an hour & a half ago! So, we're back home now and Owen & Daddy are snuggling on the couch together.
