Cory and I spent our Memorial Day weekend in Rochester, New York visiting with his family. It was our first trip to New York since November '08 and the first time in 2 years we were there when things were "green" outside! It's amazing how different places look based on the season. The drive there was uneventful, but took a bit longer than usual due to mommy's pregnant bladder, ha! Poor Cory just wanted to get home and we had to make 3 or 4 more stops than usual. But, we made it there safe and sound - and as soon as we were there, Cory's parents had his favorite New York pizza & wings place "Pontillo's" waiting for him and a sweet welcome sign for us:
After dinner on Friday, Cory's parents were so excited to give Owen his gift that they had us open everything...even though his shower was just a few days away! Grandma & Grandpa Albert and Aunt Linda all went in together to give Owen his stroller & car seat, the Chicco Cortina Travel System! Cory and his Dad put it all together and sweet Cory was so excited that he pushed it around the house for a few minutes...I couldn't help but get a picture :)
Cory's mom and his sister Sara gave us the sweetest homemade lovey "tag" blankets for Owen. Cory's mom was so excited to do it that she ended up making three - thanks Aunt Sara for helping to pick out the fabric! So, Owen will have his pick of tag blankies, ha!

For football season - this was Grandpa Albert's idea!
On Saturday, Cory and I spent some time down at the amazing public beach area that is right on Lake Ontario. It's one of my most favorite spots to go whenever we're visiting. The breeze off the lake was wonderful and it was fun to look at all the cute little beach houses along the coast. We had some Abbotts frozen custard while we were down at the beach, which is a MUST anytime we're in Rochester - it's so creamy & yummy! Owen's shower was on Sunday afternoon (I'll post in a separate blog entry) and we had to leave early Monday morning since Cory had to be back at work on Tuesday. The visit just FLEW by like a whirlwind and before we knew it, we were back on the road to Indy. We're not sure when we'll be able to go back to Rochester with Owen on his way & with him being so young during holiday season, so we really did out best to enjoy every moment we were home. Thankfully, Cory's parents have made plans for June to come out to Indy for another visit - and we are already counting down the days until they're here again!
PS- A *huge* thank you to Grandpa Albert for all the work he did on Mommy's Escape while we were home! He is seriously a master handy-man and was brilliant with my truck. Thank you SO much for helping us out :)
